• How old are you?
I'm currently 26 years old.
• How long have you been painting?
I've been painting for over eight years now. I first started off with watercolors, then moved to oils, acrylics and more. I actually initially started my creative journey working graphic design at multiple firms and internships... I believe this background to be directly responsible for my style of composition.
• What is your medium?
My mentality has always been more in line with the saying "Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one". I do everything from graphic design, web layout, production design, set and prop making/dressing, jewelry, upholstery, leatherworking, painting (all mediums I can get my hands on), murals and more-I even perform with fire and LED props. I simply love to experiment, and while a lot of my shown work is currently watercolor, if you would like to get a piece in a different medium, I would be more than happy to deliver!
• Did you go to school for art?
Yes, I graduated with a BFA in Illustration, and a concentration in Entertainment Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. While I did go to school, most of the techniques and skills I've learned have come from practice, books and learning online (thank you, YouTube and Google!). I strongly believe that anyone can learn and refine their art without education, and would love to share the resources that got me to the point I am at to help anyone on their journey.
• Where did the name Lost In The Woods come from?
As I've grown, it's evolved to be an accurate emulation of my artistic tone and mentality. A majority of my works (especially now) come from me scrounging around either directly in nature or through curiosity collectors. Sometimes the subject matter is alive, sometimes a reminder of it`s life, and I could go on for hours about how the world around us is an endless pool of inspiration to get lost in. Now both literal and figurative, I invite everyone to come get lost in the woods with me.
• What inspires you and how do you get your ideas?
The longer I live, the more I gain inspiration from everything. It's the rain falling steadily outside the windows, the smell of dirt and mud, the soft tendrils of music crawling into my ears...it's sometimes a beetle wing i find on the ground, seeing a crystal when its the golden hour and the light hits it just right. The more I can get outside and play, the more creative I am.
As far as everything else; dreams, nightmares and science. Really it's more of a state of mind- inspiration is everywhere if you know how to look.
• Do you do tattoos or commissions?
I am currently open for custom work, both tattoo design and commissioned work. Contact me so we can talk shop!
• Can I get your existing work tattooed on me?
While this craft is my living, you may get my work done on you. I ask that you ALWAYS give me credit and consider making a purchase to support the artist.
• Do you ship internationally?
Yes! However, due to the use of organic and natural materials, some countries have specific requirements, forms and additional duties for these items. The buyer is responsible for additional import charges that may occur upon order retrieval, as well as checking with local law that their items are allowed.
Shipping charges to designated country vary and will be given an estimate upon ordering. Any left over funds not attributed to sending to buyer WILL be refunded! Please be sure that all of your information is correct when placing order so I can be in contact through the process.
• Can I find your work locally?
Currently, I am unfortunately not touring with my adornments, and have switched to working remotely. If you would like my work at your event, please feel free to reach out to me to see if I am available. While I do not vend anymore, I am working on displaying my works in storefronts and galleries!
